Training & Accreditation

Construction industry is one of the important sectors that generates the nation’s economic growth and plays a crucial role in fulfilling the Government’s aspiration towards achieving Vision 2020. It is a very competitive industry which requires a considerable amount of workforce. One of the main challenges faced by the industry is the low quality and productivity of jobs done. One of the major reasons which affect the quality is the use of incompetent human resource at construction sites. In line with CIDB’s function stipulated under Act 520 i.e. to accredit and recognise skilled construction personnel, CIDB has paved the way towards accrediting and recognising skilled construction workers who pass skill competency test. Those who passed the test will be accredited with CIDB Skill Competency Certificate or SKK for local workers, and Foreign Workers Skill Recognition or PKPA for foreigners. Ultimately CIDB’s objective is to ensure that only personnel with the recognised certification should be eligible to work at sites.
