Construction players set to build new networks


KUALA LUMPUR - The upcoming International Construction Week 2012 (ICW 2012), organised by the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB), promises a venue for players in the industry to look for new business opportunities. 

CIDB chief executive officer Datuk Seri Dr Judin Abdul Karim said the event would provide construction industry stakeholders the opportunity to network, learn and share their experiences.

"IWC 2012 is set to attract a good mix of players in the construction industry," said Judin. 

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak is expected to launch the four-day event, which starts on February 13, here on the second day.

"Many initiatives and products showcased at this event will directly contribute to enhancing the productivity and efficiency of the industry."

Speaking to Business Times, Judin said the event was expected to draw more than 10,000 local and international visitors.

"We are expecting not only industry players but also those from supporting industries, government agencies, associations, manufacturer and suppliers of construction related products and services, institutions of higher learning and the public," Judin said.

Themed "Transformation", the event intends to provide exposure to the construction industry players on the latest innovation, products, services, technology and best practices that can contribute towards improving the construction industry in Malaysia. 

Another main focus of ICW 2012 is to support the minimisation of energy consumption while enhancing development, besides promoting quality, productivity and competency of construction industry.

Judin said ICW 2012 also aimed to ensure sustainable development and conserve the environment for future generations.
